Currently, we're seeking a proactive and experienced IT support specialist to join our dynamic team in the UK. We're looking for candidates with a strong aptitude for problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in technology.
The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges, implement solutions, and promote standardisation and consistency across the organisation's IT operations. The IT Support Specialist will work collaboratively with colleagues from different departments to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement efforts.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and documentation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices. It focuses on proactive system audits, optimisation of IT inventory, and the implementation of cybersecurity measures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine system audits to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of IT hardware.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to resolve hardware- and software-related issues, escalating complex issues as necessary.
- Assist in the development and delivery of IT training programmes and workshops for end-users to enhance their technical proficiency and productivity.
- Monitor system performance and resource utilisation, identifying areas for improvement and optimisation.
- Assist in the management of IT inventory and asset tracking, maintaining accurate records of hardware and software assets.
- Support the implementation of cybersecurity measures, including antivirus software deployment, firewall configuration, and user awareness training.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices to promote standardisation and consistency across the organisation.
- Provide hands-on assistance in the installation and configuration of software and hardware, primarily focusing on MacOS platforms.
- Take ownership of managing and maintaining internal technology tools, ensuring smooth setup, configuration, and licence management.
- Collaborate with the IT team to support the setup and maintenance of user accounts and devices (laptops, tablets, and phones), offering technical assistance during employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Act as the first point of contact for user queries and device-related issues, providing timely and effective support to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Contribute to the development of an internal knowledge base by documenting technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and IT policies to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
- Uphold data protection mechanisms and policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements, liaising with development teams to implement automation solutions where applicable.
- Assist in monitoring and controlling AWS expenditures, supporting budget management efforts to optimise resource utilisation.
- Collaborate with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on various projects, gaining exposure to tasks such as creating Grafana reports, managing alerts, and conducting log audits.
- Support user management tasks on internal systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Actively contribute ideas and suggestions for improving workplace best practices, leveraging your unique perspective to identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to share insights and propose initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, employee satisfaction, and overall performance.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, seeking opportunities to apply innovative solutions to existing challenges within the organisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts across the organisation.
Skills Required:
- Prior experience in a similar role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Solid understanding of IT principles, including networking fundamentals, Apple Mac hardware/software setup, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to acquire new skills and knowledge.
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for working in a team-oriented environment.
